Ligatures, also commonly known as fitments, are pieces of steel reinforcing bar which are used to create reinforcing steel cages.

Ligatures are often used to assist in creating footing cages, pile cages, bored piers, column cages, walls and suspended beams. Ligatures serve two main purposes:

Separate bars at the specified spacing
Increase integrity and strength of the structure

Why use Ligatures?

The main advantage with using Ligatures is that it enables accurate placement of reinforcing bars in steel cages. It also allows an extra layer of strength within the cage, as the fitments add structural integrity.

Using Ligatures, you are able to fabricate the steel cage either off-site or somewhere safer on-site and then place the entire cage into the structural element as specified.
