In addition to regular dowel joints we also offer Galvanised Steel Dowels for projects where it is likely that the dowels will be subjected to harsher environmental conditions.
Salt, sea spray, rain and other elements can corrode regular steel dowels rapidly, which in turn compromises the structural integrity of the building. Galvanised Dowels are hot-dipped to provide better protection from the elements, and their smooth surface means that they can move and shift as a result of changes in the environment which can cause shrinkage and expansion.
Galvanised Dowels are just as strong as regular dowels but will last far longer due to the galvanising process.
