Black Steel Dowels

Our standard steel dowels use regular (black) steel which is primarily used to connect large concrete slabs for internal structures where galvanised steel dowels are not required. Dowels are used to simply align two concrete slabs and allow small amounts of movement in the slab at the construction joint as per the engineer’s specifications. Steel Dowels are often used in large warehouse slabs because the large size of the slab will require concrete to be poured in stages.

Benefits Of Steel Dowels

  • High strength
  • Available in stock
  • Cheaper than galvanised dowels
  • Used to connect large concrete slabs
  • Used to connect existing slabs to new slabs

Internal structures like concrete slabs can use regular black steel for the connecting dowels because it will not be exposed to the outdoor elements, and therefore galvanised steel is not required. This enables the concrete reinforcing to be much cheaper because there is no need for the dowels to be hot-dipped galvanised.
