June is Environment Month at Neumann Steel – a time to reflect on the positive changes we’re making together for a more sustainable future.

To mark World Environment Day on 5 June, we gifted every staff member a native Australian plant. It’s a small act with a big impact—promoting biodiversity, providing shade, and encouraging everyone to contribute to a greener community at home.

But at Neumann Steel, sustainability goes beyond a single day. It’s embedded into everything we do – across every site and process.

Here are a few ways we’re making a difference:

  • First in Australia
We’re proud to be the first reinforcing steel company in Australia to achieve Sustainability Level 3 Certification through the Steel Sustainability Australia (SSA) program—the highest level currently available.
  • Powering Progress with the Sun
Our Currumbin site is home to the third-largest commercial solar system on the Gold Coast—generating enough clean energy to power 465 homes. Even better? All Neumann Steel sites now operate on solar energy, significantly reducing our carbon footprint.
  • Leading in Waste Reduction
In FY24, we recycled more than 95% of our waste, supporting a circular economy and reducing our impact on landfills.
  • Smarter Water Use
Through smart processes and conscious consumption, our Currumbin site reduced water usage by a remarkable 48% in FY24.

Our commitment to the environment isn’t just about compliance – it’s about leading the way for our industry, and doing our part to protect the planet for future generations.
